JISC TechDis will be chairing a Special Thematic Session entitled ‘Putting the Disabled Student in Charge: User Focussed Technology in Education’ at the 13th International Conference on Computers Helping People with Special Needs (ICCHP).
This is a development day for senior managers with responsibility for the implementation of e-safety policies and practice in college, including in the residential setting and across the curriculum. The event will take place on Tuesday 8 November 2011 at Queen Alexandra College (QAC) in Birmingham, from 10.15 to 3.45pm.

7 Feb 2012Vulnerable adults can be members of staff or students and are unlikely to be known to a learning provider. e-safeguarding advice and guidance needs to be accessible for all staff and students whether they are in specialist or mainstream provision. Advice needs to include the risks of being commercially as well as socially vulnerable.

Technology Horizons – Tablets,

There is a lot of advice and guidance on the JISC TechDis website on using mobile devices successfully with learners, particularly mobile phones, but more recently tablets have emerged as a popular type of device with a lot of potential for learners. 9 Sep 2011As it is the beginning of term I thought I’d post a short inspirational piece about the newsletter (Star-Tek) that National Star College produce twice a year for their staff and students.
In each publication contains news about technology developments within the college, work being done by students as well as staff development opportunities and external news. I know one of the problems within any organisation is getting the use of technology embedded across the curriculum and this seems to be a great idea for one college.
