Acumen has been created to provide you with resources, tools and case studies designed to add value to your work with small and medium sized enterprises (SMEs). It contains a range of free to use resources from JISC, higher and further education institutions in the UK and materials from other trusted sources.
The development of Acumen was based on two guiding principles:
- A higher level of ICT awareness means that SMEs can get more out of their partnerships with universities and colleges.
- New web technologies offer the potential to enhance engagement and collaboration between SMEs and the further and higher education sectors.
Interview with Richard Deighton, Director of Innospace
Richard Deighton, Director of Innospace, talks about the importance of web technologies to the start-up companies he supports, and added value of online resources such as Acumen.
It is designed to enhance your work with SMEs in several ways:
- It provides a package of free resources to enhance your training delivery and / or knowledge transfer work.
- It provides a convenient source of solutions and resources to address routine ICT related questions, allowing you to focus on more specialist services.
- It provides a showcase of effective and practical partnerships working between SMEs and the higher and further education sectors.
Acumen is aimed at practitioners within the HE and FE sectors. Resources are organised into five themes which can be found via the navigation buttons on the left of the screen. You can browse through these themes to see what is on offer, or use our guides for their use in CPD and training and business advice and knowledge transfer. You can also find further guidance on the about Acumen page.
If you or a colleague have used or produced any online tools or resources that you would like to add to Acumen please contact the SME Helpdesk.
Acumen has been produced as part of the JISC BCE Programme.
