Teaching Inclusively Using Technology
In 2008 the JISC / Higher Education Academy Collaboration Initiative provided funding for JISC Techdis to work with partners in the JISC RSCs and Higher Education Academy Subject Centres to develop a suite of learning objects on inclusive use of technology in teaching that were tailored to, and therefore more useful for, a variety of discipline or role areas. These modules are the output from that funding.
Teaching Inclusively Using Technology has five constituent modules. These are:
- Preparing Your Learning;
- Delivering Learning (Lecture / Classroom);
- Delivering Learning (Practical / Fieldwork / Placement)
- Delivering Learning (Online);
- Assessing Learning.
Each of these five modules is a 10-20 minute tutorial for anyone involved in teaching Higher Education (although obviously they will be useful to teachers from any sector).
There are several different versions of these sets of 5 modules, themed appropriately for different audiences:
- Teaching Inclusively Using Technology (Generic editable version);
- HE in FE modules;
- Economics modules;
- Information and Computer Sciences modules;
- Art, Design & Media modules;
- Physical Sciences modules;
Using this Resource
Clicking on any of the links below will open a new window displaying the learning object which has been built in Xerte, the Accessible Learning Object creation tool. All objects made using Xerte, including the objects listed below, give the user the ability to change font size and background colour, provide a text-to-speech option and are fully keyboard navigable. To proceed through the object use the navigation buttons at the top or the Site Map overview) – do be aware that some pages contain sub-pages or tabs within them.
Adapting this Resource
If you would like to take the Generic Version of this resource and create another version for a different audience, we can arrange to give you access to the editing area of the objects to allow you to adapt them and export them to yourself to host on your own site. We only ask that JISC Techdis are acknowledged as the authors of the original resource, and that you share with us hyperlinks to the objects so that we can add to this page for others to make use of them. Please contact helpdesk@techdis.ac.uk
