Business and Community

What is it?

Colleges and universities play wide and varied roles within their local community. Many offer cultural activities or share expertise by way of public speaking, running specialist events or supporting business start-ups and stimulating entrepreneurship.

Business and Community Engagement (BCE) is the term used to encompass this wide variety of activity which has become a mainstream element of many college and university missions.

What are we doing to support BCE?

At JISC TechDis, we are actively helping learning providers to bring a fresh approach to the use of technologies within their business and community engagement activities particularly in support of social inclusion, as Digital Britain becomes a reality.

Effective use of technology can help us collaborate with employers and external partners and equip learners with the skills that businesses need. We promote low cost, sustainable systems and techniques to help make the most of what already exists and ensure value for money.
