Xerte Friday schedule for 2012

The Xerte Friday sessions are designed to support teaching practitioners who want to embed the use of Xerte online toolkits in their teaching.

The Xerte Friday online training sessions take place on the last Friday of most months at www.instantpresenter.com/techdisonline104 from 1 p.m.(GMT) and last around 45 minutes. These are free sessions and all you need to take part is an Internet connected computer with a headset/earphones.

Different access needs
We can adapt the session for specific needs (eg visual impairment, hearing impairment etc) if you contact us in advance. Email the helpdesk@techdis.ac.uk with the subject line "Online Workshop Accessibility Support" or phone 01904717580.

January 27th Designing for interactivity with Xerte. Xerte is a great tool for creating interactive resources and it also has a number of features which makes it ideal for collaborative development. This session will explore both.
February 24th Student revision with Xerte You only really understand something when you try teaching it to somebody else. We look at some simple ways of getting students going with Xerte to create revision objects for one another.
March 30th Good practice for accessible assessment As the revision season rolls around we explore the many ways of creating formative self assessment opportunities with Xerte.
April 27th Xerte for supporting dyslexic learners (and international students). Which Xerte templates would you use if you really wanted to make dyslexia friendly resources? In this session we give your pick of suggested templates and some ideas on keeping resources inclusive.
May 25th Getting content quickly With Xerte it is possible to rapidly develop high quality interactive resources. This session looks at using Xerte for harvesting and presenting web based resources and converting existing resources to Xerte objects.
June 29th Meeting Student Expectations In this last session of the summer term we explore how Xerte online toolkits could be fitting into your teaching, learning and inclusion strategies for the new academic year.
September 28th Xerte and fieldwork preparation / follow up and practicals. As you kick off into the new term, start planning ahead thinking how Xerte can support fieldwork and practical programmes in a wide range of subjects.
October 26th Xerte and mobile learning Do you want Xerte on an iPad? Or Xerte on android device? This is the session to look at how to go about it.
November 30th Xerte versus In this reflective session at the end of the autumn term we consider Xerte in the e-learning ecosystem. This is a chance to see how Xerte stacks up against other commercial and open source tools. Bring your questions, your observations and even your wis at your wish lists.
