Business Processes

In terms of supporting organisations to become more mature with respect to accessibility and inclusion, there are two key business processes that JISC Techdis focuses upon:

  • Organisations cannot expect to find that an ad hoc, reactive approach to accessibility and inclusion is effective, efficient or supports an adequate user experience. Policies must be created, revised or reinforced that allow the implementation of accessibility measures, and encourage and facilitate the creation of a culture of inclusion. JISC Techdis has worked with a wide range of higher and further education institutions, education agencies and professional organisations to create guidance for organisations addressing the issue of inclusive business processes.
  • The most immediate and effective area to address in order to move forward with inclusive practice is the area of online systems. Be it management information, learning platforms, student records or customer relations management, systems need to be accessible to users (both front-end and back-end, i.e. staff and students). Procurement is obviously an area of primary concern, as are online learning and information systems policies. JISC Techdis has collaborated with Nottingham Trent University, to bring you useful information in this area.
